danger us

danger us

I had an idea about the moment one first senses a change happening, internal or external, and the attendant emotions – panic, longing, excitement, wonderment, disorientation – as attachments dissolve, either passively or violently, even pleasurably, and we navigate through these spaces in terms of how we attempt to communicate and engage with those we know & our surroundings, all within a shifting or unstable modality. What makes this a special moment? What troubles this awareness? I had a feeling that this was all a dream though, and in it I was asking the question – WHAT HAPPENS NOW? The answer came in trickster form, in song; it was sirens lilting through the cracks and that was all I heard.

LYRICS:

if i lay me down to sleep

pray the lord my soul to keep

if i die before i wake

pray the lord my soul to take

[danger us, danger us

nobody make a plan for us

made for us, made for us

baby don't you go unless you really must

it's dangerous]

when i see you by the shore

someone says you wanted more

just some water on the sand

not enough to understand

[danger us, danger us

nobody make a plan for us

made for us, made for us

baby don't you go unless you really must

it's dangerous]

which is closer, breath or blood

thick as water from the flood

what we have is what we've got

dangerous to want a lot

if i lay me down to rest

in the fountain or the nest

will love get lost in the air

never could quite touch us there

[danger us, danger us

nobody make a plan for me

made for us, made for us

baby don't you go unless you really must

it's dangerous, dangerous

danger us, danger us

nobody made a plan for us

made for us, made for us

baby don't you go unless you really must]

mmmm mmmm
